Procurement in the public sector is covered by a number of Public Procurement Directives. This Workshop will demystify the current legislation – providing a practical guide on how to ensure compliance with minimum cost and disruption.

The Workshop will look at the changes introduced by the new Public Procurement Directive is implemented.

The new Directive introduced significant changes to current legalisation.

  • All those involved in the procurement of goods, services or works in the public sector (including utility companies).

  • An overview of the current legislation – organisations covered by the legislation, the current thresholds, remedies for breach , types of notice

  • The three key procedures – open, restricted, negotiated

  • Managing a contract subject to the legislation – specifications, records, framework agreement, selection procedures, award criteria

  • The rules relating to environmental and social issues

  • The new Public Procurement Directive – summary of key changes, timescales

  • Questions and course review
